Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 1 lb ground chicken or ground turkey (454 g)
- 1 Tbsp sesame oil (14 g)
- 1 9 oz bag shredded cabbage with carrots (or 5 cups shredded cabbage) (255 g)
- 2 tsp minced ginger (8 g Dorot frozen cubes or fresh)
- 2 tsp minced garlic (10 g Dorot frozen cubes or fresh)
- 2 tbsp soy sauce (tamari, or coconut aminos) (32 g)
- 1/4 cup sliced green onions (13 g)
Garnish Ideas
- Sriracha sauce
- Spicy mayo
- More green onions
- Sesame seeds
Instructions
- Cook the meat: In a non-stick pan, heat the sesame oil over medium-high heat. Add the ground chicken or turkey and cook until fully browned and cooked through, about 5-6 minutes. Drain any excess liquid or grease from the pan to keep the dish light.
- Add aromatics and cabbage: To the cooked meat, add the shredded cabbage and carrots mix, minced garlic, minced ginger, and soy sauce or coconut aminos. Stir to combine all ingredients.
- Sauté mixture: Continue to cook the meat and cabbage mixture, stirring occasionally, for 3-4 minutes until the cabbage is tender but still crisp, ensuring the flavors meld together nicely.
- Add green onions: Stir in the sliced green onions to the cooked mixture, reserving some for garnish if desired.
- Garnish and serve: Transfer the egg roll in a bowl to serving dishes and garnish with additional green onions, a drizzle of sriracha sauce for heat, spicy mayo, or sprinkle with sesame seeds as preferred.
Notes
- You can substitute ground turkey with ground chicken or lean pork based on preference.
- Adjust the amount of soy sauce or coconut aminos to taste for lower sodium options.
- For a vegetarian version, omit meat and add tofu or extra vegetables.
- This dish pairs well with steamed rice or cauliflower rice for a low-carb meal.
- Leftovers store well in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
