Description

These Turkey and Cheese Sliders are a delicious and easy-to-make snack or meal perfect for gatherings. Made with tender turkey, melted cheese, and a flavorful secret sauce brushed over soft Hawaiian rolls, these sliders bake to perfection with a golden crust and melty cheese. Quick to prepare and sure to please a crowd, they are ideal for game days, parties, or a savory family dinner.

Ingredients

Sliders

  • ¾ - 1 lb turkey (leftovers or thinly sliced deli turkey - regular, smoked, or honey flavor)
  • 12 slices cheese (thinly sliced; Havarti, Cheddar, sharp Cheddar, Provolone, or Mozzarella)
  • 1 package Kings Hawaiian Rolls (12 rolls, sliced in half with the bottom slightly thicker than the top)

Secret Sauce

  • ¼ cup butter (melted, salted or unsalted)
  • 1 tablespoon mustard (Dijon or yellow)
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 teaspoons brown sugar (packed, or substitute honey)
  • 1 - 2 teaspoons Everything But The Bagel Seasoning (or alternatively poppy seeds or sesame seeds)

Instructions

  1. Prepare baking dish: Spray a 9x13 inch pan or rimmed baking sheet with non-stick spray or line it with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  2. Slice rolls: Use a serrated knife to carefully cut the entire slab of rolls in half lengthwise, ensuring the bottom half is slightly thicker than the top. Remove and set aside the top halves.
  3. Place turkey and cheese on rolls: Evenly layer turkey slices over the bottom halves of the rolls. Then layer cheese slices on top of the turkey, leaving some without cheese if desired. Replace the top halves of the rolls and set aside.
  4. Make secret sauce: In a small saucepan over medium-low heat, melt the butter. Once melted, whisk in Worcestershire sauce, mustard, and brown sugar. Stir well to combine and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. Let it simmer for 30 seconds until slightly thickened.
  5. Pour secret sauce over sliders: Evenly pour the sauce over the assembled sliders. Use a pastry brush to coat all surfaces—tops, cracks, and sides—with the sauce. Sprinkle with Everything But The Bagel seasoning or seeds if using.
  6. Cover sliders with foil: Spray one side of a sheet of foil with non-stick spray or oil and cover the sliders tightly to keep moisture during baking. Allow the sliders to come to room temperature while preheating the oven.
  7. Bake sliders: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the covered sliders for 15 minutes, then remove the foil and bake uncovered for an additional 10-12 minutes until the cheese is melted and the tops of the rolls are slightly crusty. Serve hot or at room temperature. If cheese is not fully melted, recover with foil and bake a few more minutes.

Notes

  • You can customize with different types of cheese to suit your taste preferences.
  • If you don't have Hawaiian rolls, any soft sandwich rolls will work.
  • Use leftover turkey or deli turkey slices for convenience and flavor variety.
  • The secret sauce can be adjusted for sweetness or tang by varying the brown sugar or mustard types.
  • Everything But The Bagel seasoning adds a unique savory crunch but can be substituted or omitted based on preference.
  • For best results, serve sliders warm, but they can also be enjoyed at room temperature.
