Description

A delicious and hearty Toasted Italian Sandwich featuring a crisp ciabatta roll layered with pesto, sun-dried tomatoes, an assortment of Italian meats, and fresh mozzarella melted to perfection in a toaster oven for a warm, satisfying meal.

Ingredients

Sandwich Ingredients

  • 1 Ciabatta roll
  • 1 tablespoon pesto sauce
  • 1 tablespoon chopped sun-dried tomatoes
  • 2 slices fresh mozzarella
  • 1 slice Salami
  • 1 slice Cracked Black Pepper Salami
  • 1 slice Pepperoni
  • 1 slice Turkey Pepperoni

Instructions

  1. Toast the bread: Cut the ciabatta roll in half horizontally and place both halves in the toaster oven. Toast for a few minutes until the edges turn golden brown and crisp, ensuring a crunchy texture that will hold the fillings well.
  2. Spread pesto and add sun-dried tomatoes: Remove the toasted bread halves. Evenly spread 1 tablespoon of pesto sauce over the top half. On the bottom half, spread 1 tablespoon of chopped sun-dried tomatoes to add a sweet, tangy layer of flavor.
  3. Layer the meats and cheese: On top of the sun-dried tomatoes on the bottom half, layer the sliced meats in this order: 1 slice Salami, 1 slice Cracked Black Pepper Salami, 1 slice Pepperoni, and 1 slice Turkey Pepperoni. Then place the 2 slices of fresh mozzarella over the meats.
  4. Melt the cheese and warm the meats: Place just the bottom half of the sandwich, with all the fillings, back into the toaster oven. Heat until the mozzarella melts and the meats are warmed through, about 3-5 minutes. Do not re-toast the pesto side to keep its fresh flavor.
  5. Assemble and serve: Remove the bottom half from the toaster oven and place the pesto-coated top half over it to complete the sandwich. Slice it in half and serve warm for the best taste and texture experience.

Notes

  • Use a toaster oven for even toasting and melting without drying out the sandwich.
  • For more intense flavor, you can add a drizzle of balsamic glaze or fresh basil leaves before assembling.
  • If fresh mozzarella is unavailable, use a good-quality sliced mozzarella or provolone cheese.
  • Customize the meats as desired or substitute with other Italian deli meats.
  • Serve with a side of chips or a green salad for a complete meal.
