Ingredients
Filling
- 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 2/3 teaspoon matcha powder
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- Green food coloring (gel works best), a few drops
Coating and Garnish
- 2 ½ cups white chocolate melts or shredded white chocolate
- 1 teaspoon coconut oil (optional, for smoother drizzle)
- A pinch of matcha powder for garnish
Instructions
- Make the green filling: In a large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth and creamy.
- Combine ingredients: Add the powdered sugar, matcha powder, and vanilla extract to the cream cheese. Mix until the mixture is creamy and well combined.
- Add color: Add a few drops of green food coloring and blend thoroughly until the filling turns a bright, even green hue.
- Form truffle balls: Scoop the mixture into 1-inch balls and place them on a tray lined with parchment paper.
- Freeze: Freeze the truffle balls for at least 30 minutes or until they become firm to handle.
- Melt white chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the white chocolate by heating in 30-second increments, stirring in between, until smooth.
- Optional green drizzle: Set aside a spoonful of the melted white chocolate and tint it with green food coloring if you want to add a decorative drizzle.
- Dip truffles: Remove the frozen truffle balls from the freezer. Using a fork or toothpick, dip each ball into the melted white chocolate, letting excess chocolate drip off before placing them back onto the parchment-lined tray.
- Garnish: Lightly sprinkle a pinch of matcha powder on top of each coated truffle for a finishing touch.
- Add drizzle: Use a spoon to zig-zag the green-tinted white chocolate over the truffles, adding a festive decorative drizzle.
- Set the truffles: Let the chocolate coating set at room temperature or place the truffles in the refrigerator to chill and firm up more quickly.
Notes
- For a smoother chocolate drizzle, adding a teaspoon of coconut oil helps with consistency.
- Use gel food coloring for vibrant coloring without thinning the filling.
- Freeze the truffles well before dipping to prevent the filling from melting.
- Store leftover truffles in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
- Garnish with extra matcha powder or white chocolate shavings for a decorative presentation.
