Description

These Spinach Feta Puff Pastry Spirals are a delicious and easy appetizer featuring a creamy mixture of spinach, feta, and cream cheese wrapped in flaky puff pastry. Perfectly baked until golden and crisp, they make a delightful finger food for parties or snacks.

Ingredients

Spinach Feta Filling

  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup frozen spinach, water squeezed out
  • 1/2 cup crumbled feta cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg

Puff Pastry

  • 1 sheet puff pastry (from a 17.3 ounce box)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400˚F (200˚C). Allow the frozen puff pastry sheet to thaw at room temperature for 20-30 minutes to make it pliable and easier to work with.
  2. Prepare Filling: In a medium mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, squeezed spinach, crumbled feta cheese, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well incorporated into a creamy mixture.
  3. Assemble Pastry: Roll out the thawed puff pastry sheet flat on a clean surface. Spread the spinach and feta filling evenly over the entire surface of the pastry, covering from edge to edge.
  4. Roll and Slice: Carefully roll up the puff pastry tightly into a log shape. Using a serrated knife, slice the rolled log into 15 even slices, forming spiral shapes.
  5. Bake Spirals: Arrange the puff pastry spirals on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them slightly apart. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-18 minutes, or until the puff pastry is puffed up and lightly browned.

Notes

  • Make sure to squeeze out as much water as possible from the spinach to prevent soggy pastry.
  • If you prefer, fresh spinach can be sautéed and cooled before use.
  • For a golden finish, brush the spirals with a little beaten egg before baking.
  • These spirals can be served warm or at room temperature.
  • Use a serrated knife to help achieve clean slices without squashing the spirals.
