Description

A zesty and refreshing Spicy Pickle Margarita that combines the tangy flavors of silver tequila, pickle brine, and lime juice with the heat of jalapeños and a sweet touch of honey. Perfectly rimmed with chipotle chili salt for an extra kick, this cocktail is an exciting twist on the classic margarita, ideal for summer gatherings or any occasion that calls for a bold, flavorful drink.

Ingredients

Drink Ingredients

  • 1 cup silver tequila
  • 1/2 cup Cointreau liquor
  • 1/2 cup lime juice
  • 1/2 cup pickle brine
  • 1 jalapeño, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons honey (adjust to taste)

Chili Salt Rim

  • 1/4 cup pink sea salt or sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon chipotle chili powder or tajin
  • 2 teaspoons granulated sugar

Optional Garnish

  • Ginger beer (to top off, optional)
  • Small pickles
  • Dill sprigs
  • Charred peppers

Instructions

  1. Mix the Cocktail Base: In a large pitcher, combine the silver tequila, Cointreau liquor, lime juice, pickle brine, sliced jalapeños, and honey. Stir well to blend all flavors thoroughly. Cover and chill the mixture for at least 2 hours to allow the jalapeños to infuse their spiciness into the drink. The longer it chills with jalapeños, the spicier the margarita becomes.
  2. Strain Jalapeños: After chilling, strain out the jalapeño slices and discard them to prevent over-spicing. Return the liquid to the pitcher, taste and add more honey if needed to balance the heat and acidity. Keep the mixture chilled until ready to serve.
  3. Prepare the Chili Salt Rim: On a shallow plate, mix together the pink sea salt, chipotle chili powder or tajin, and granulated sugar. Rim each margarita glass by dipping the rims into lime juice or water, then into the chili salt mixture to coat. Fill the glasses with ice.
  4. Serve the Margaritas: Fill the chilled pitcher with ice to keep the drink cold. Pour the spicy pickle margarita into the prepared glasses. Optionally, top off each glass with a splash of ginger beer for added fizz and complexity.
  5. Garnish and Enjoy: Garnish each glass with small pickles, dill sprigs, or charred peppers for an attractive and flavorful presentation. Serve immediately and enjoy the refreshing, spicy, and tangy flavors of this creative margarita twist.

Notes

  • Adjust honey quantity to your preferred sweetness level.
  • Longer jalapeño infusion intensifies spiciness.
  • Chipotle chili powder can be substituted with tajin for a citrusy twist.
  • Ginger beer is optional but adds a nice fizzy contrast.
  • Use fresh lime juice for the best flavor.
