Ingredients
Dough
- ¼ package pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
Filling
- 8 oz mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 20–25 slices spicy pepperoni
- 0.25 cup pizza sauce
Seasoning and Topping
- 2 tbsp olive oil (for brushing)
- 1 tsp red pepper flakes
- 0.5 tsp garlic powder
- 0.5 tsp Italian seasoning
- 0.25 tsp cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
- Salt and black pepper (to taste)
- 2 tbsp butter, melted
- 1 tsp garlic powder (mixed with butter)
- Fresh parsley (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat for easy cleanup.
- Prepare Dough: Roll out the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface to about 1/4 inch thickness, then cut the dough into evenly sized rectangles suitable for rolling.
- Make Spice Blend: In a small bowl, mix together the red pepper flakes, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper to create a flavorful spice blend for the filling.
- Add Filling: Spread a thin layer of pizza sauce onto each dough rectangle, then layer with slices of spicy pepperoni and a generous amount of shredded mozzarella cheese.
- Form Rolls: Carefully roll up each dough rectangle from one end to the other, pinching the seams tightly to seal the rolls and prevent filling leakage during baking.
- Arrange Rolls: Place each roll seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet, spaced slightly apart to allow for expansion.
- Brush with Butter: Mix the melted butter with 1 teaspoon of garlic powder and brush this mixture generously over the tops of each roll for added flavor and a golden crust.
- Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 15–18 minutes or until the rolls are puffed up and golden brown on top.
- Garnish and Serve: Remove from the oven, sprinkle chopped fresh parsley over the rolls for a burst of color and freshness, then serve hot for the best taste.
Notes
