Ingredients
Meat and Vegetables
- 4 pounds ground chuck (browned, crumbled, and drained)
- 1 green bell pepper (seeded and diced)
Sauce and Seasonings
- 3 cups ketchup
- 29 ounces tomato sauce (1 can, 29 ounces)
- ½ cup dried minced onion
- ¼ cup prepared mustard
- 4 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Buns
- 24 Hawaiian rolls, sliced in half through the height to make slider buns (2 bags, 12 count each)
Instructions
- Prepare Slow Cooker: Spray the slow cooker with nonstick cooking spray to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
- Combine Ingredients: Place all ingredients except the slider buns into the slow cooker and stir well to combine all flavors evenly.
- Cook: Cover and cook on low for 3 to 4 hours, stirring halfway through to ensure even cooking and flavor distribution.
- Assemble Sliders: Arrange the bottom halves of the Hawaiian rolls in a 9x13 inch baking dish. Spoon a generous layer of the sloppy joe mixture onto the roll bottoms, then place the tops of the buns over the mixture.
- Serve or Refrigerate: You can cut the assembled sliders apart and serve immediately, or cover the dish and refrigerate for later use.
- Reheat: To reheat, preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Tent the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 20 to 30 minutes until the meat is heated through. Cut apart and serve warm.
