Description

Create a fun and healthy Halloween-themed Skeleton Veggie Tray that's perfect for parties or a family snack. This colorful vegetable platter features an edible skeleton design made from fresh celery, cucumber, bell peppers, carrots, tomatoes, and black olives, with a bowl of dip forming the skull. Easy to assemble and visually striking, it's a creative way to encourage veggie eating.

Ingredients

Vegetables

  • 4 celery stalks
  • 1 large cucumber
  • 1 medium red bell pepper
  • 1 medium orange bell pepper
  • 1 medium yellow bell pepper
  • 1 large carrot
  • 6 cocktail or other small round tomatoes

Additional

  • 2 black olives
  • 1 bowl of your favorite dip (ranch, hummus, or other)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Skull: Place a bowl of your favorite dip at the top center of your serving tray to represent the skeleton's skull.
  2. Create the Arms, Shoulders, and Legs: Cut the celery stalks into pieces and arrange them from the skull downwards to form the skeleton’s arms, shoulders, and legs, spacing them out to mimic the shape of a skeleton.
  3. Make the Spine and Pelvic Bone: Slice the cucumber into rounds and arrange in a vertical line below the dip bowl to form the spine, and fan out some cucumber slices at the lower end to shape the pelvic bone.
  4. Form the Ribcage: Slice the red, orange, and yellow bell peppers into thin strips. Layer and arrange these strips outward from the spine area to create a colorful ribcage effect.
  5. Create the Hands: Cut the large carrot into smaller pieces and position them at the ends of the celery stalk arms to simulate the skeleton’s hands.
  6. Add Joints: Place the small round tomatoes at key joint positions such as shoulders, elbows, and above the thighs for added detail and color.
  7. Detail the Face: Use black olives to form the skeleton’s eyes and mouth on the dip bowl to complete the skull look.
  8. Final Step: Cover the tray with plastic wrap and refrigerate until ready to serve to keep the veggies fresh.

Notes

  • Use any favorite dip such as ranch, hummus, or guacamole for the skull bowl.
  • Feel free to customize vegetables according to availability or preferences.
  • Keep the vegetable tray covered and refrigerated to maintain freshness for up to 24 hours.
  • This tray is a fun and healthy option for Halloween parties or kid-friendly snacks.
