Ingredients
Wet Ingredients
- 2 large Eggs
- 30 ml (2 tablespoons) Olive Oil
- 125 ml (1/2 cup) Full Cream / Whole Milk
- 125 gr (1/2 cup) Sour Cream
Dry Ingredients
- 225 gr (1 1/2 cup) Self-Rising Flour
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- Optional: your choice of Spices
Cheese
- 50 gr (1 cup grated) Cheddar Cheese or your preferred type of grated cheese
Instructions
- Grate Cheese: Finely grate the Cheddar Cheese or your chosen cheese and set it aside for later use.
- Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, olive oil, whole milk, and sour cream until a smooth mixture forms, ensuring there are no lumps.
- Add Dry Ingredients: Sift the self-rising flour and salt into the wet mixture. Add any preferred spices at this stage if desired. Whisk thoroughly until the batter is smooth with no lumps remaining.
- Fold in Cheese: Gently fold the grated cheese into the batter, mixing evenly to avoid pockets of cheese and ensure uniform distribution throughout the pancakes.
- Heat Pan and Cook: Heat a large non-stick skillet, crepe pan, or saucepan over medium-high heat. Lightly grease the pan with oil or butter. Pour a portion of pancake batter onto the pan and cook for about 2 minutes until bubbles appear on the surface.
- Flip and Finish Cooking: Flip the pancake carefully and cook for another 2 minutes or until the pancake turns golden brown and is cooked through. Repeat this process with the remaining batter.
- Serve: Serve the savory cheese pancakes immediately while warm, topped with your choice of toppings if desired.
Notes
- Use self-rising flour to avoid adding baking powder separately.
- Cheddar cheese is commonly used, but feel free to experiment with different types of grated cheese.
- If desired, add your preferred spices like black pepper, paprika, or herbs for extra flavor.
- Cook pancakes on medium-high heat to ensure a crispy golden exterior without burning.
- Serve immediately for the best taste and texture; these pancakes are best enjoyed warm.
