Description

This Pizza Waffles recipe offers a fun and delicious twist on classic pizza by combining flaky biscuit dough, melted mozzarella cheese, pepperoni, and Italian seasoning in a crispy waffle form. Perfect as a snack, appetizer, or quick meal, these cheesy, pepperoni-stuffed waffles are served warm with pizza sauce for dipping.

Ingredients

Pizza Waffles

  • 1 (16.3-ounce) can refrigerated Pillsbury™ Grands!™ Flaky Layers Original Biscuits (8 Count)
  • 12 slices mozzarella cheese, cut into quarters
  • ½ cup mini pepperoni slices
  • Italian seasoning, to taste

Dipping Sauce

  • 1 (14-ounce) jar pizza sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat Waffle Maker: Spray the waffle maker with cooking spray and heat it to medium-high temperature to ensure the waffles cook evenly and develop a crispy exterior.
  2. Prepare Biscuits: Separate the dough into 8 biscuits. Carefully peel each biscuit in half; the flaky layers should separate effortlessly once started.
  3. Assemble Pizza Waffles: On one half of each biscuit, place 6 mozzarella cheese quarters (equivalent to 1½ slices), then top with 8-10 mini pepperoni slices. Sprinkle Italian seasoning evenly over the filling, then cover with the other half of the biscuit and firmly pinch the edges together to seal.
  4. Cook Waffles: Place one assembled biscuit onto the center of the preheated waffle maker. Close the lid and cook for about 2 minutes or until the waffle is golden brown and the cheese inside has melted. Repeat this step with the remaining biscuits.
  5. Serve: Warm the pizza sauce in a small pot or microwave. Serve the hot pizza waffles with the warm pizza sauce on the side for dipping.

Notes

  • Ensure to firmly pinch the biscuit edges to prevent cheese and pepperoni from leaking during cooking.
  • If mini pepperoni is unavailable, finely cut regular pepperoni slices into small pieces.
  • Use a non-stick cooking spray suitable for high heat to avoid waffles sticking to the waffle maker.
  • For a spicier version, add crushed red pepper flakes to the filling or sprinkle on top before cooking.
  • Leftover pizza waffles can be reheated in an oven or air fryer to retain crispiness.
