Description

These Pepperoni Pizza Pinwheels are a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer or snack featuring a savory blend of pizza sauce, melted mozzarella, and crispy pepperoni rolled inside flaky crescent roll dough. Perfectly golden and cheesy, they’re great for parties, game day, or a quick treat.

Ingredients

Dough

  • 8 ounces original refrigerated crescent rolls or dough sheets

Filling

  • 1/3 cup pizza sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 21 slices dry cured pepperoni

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  2. Prepare Dough: Unroll the entire tube of crescent roll dough and carefully seal the seams together tightly to form one large sheet for easier rolling.
  3. Add Filling: Leaving a 1-inch gap along one long side of the dough, evenly spread the pizza sauce over the surface. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese on top, followed by a handful of dry cured pepperoni slices, distributing them evenly.
  4. Roll Dough: Starting from the side with the filling, carefully roll the dough towards the 1-inch gap to form a compact log shape.
  5. Cut Pinwheels: Using a sharp knife, slice the rolled dough into 12 equal rounds or pinwheels, being careful to keep the filling intact.
  6. Bake: Arrange the pinwheels cut side up on the prepared baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes, or until the pinwheels are lightly golden and the cheese has melted and is bubbly.
  7. Cool and Serve: Allow the pinwheels to cool slightly before serving. They can be enjoyed on their own or with extra marinara sauce for dipping.

Notes

  • Sealing the seams of the crescent dough well prevents filling leakage during baking.
  • For a crispier crust, bake a few minutes longer but watch carefully to avoid burning.
  • These pinwheels can be made ahead of time and refrigerated before baking.
  • Substitute pepperoni with other cured meats or vegetables for variety.
  • Serve warm for best flavor and texture.
