Ingredients
Base
- 2 naan breads
Sauce
- ½ cup marinara sauce (or pizza sauce)
- ½ teaspoon dried oregano (optional)
- 2 cloves garlic (grated, optional)
Cheese and Toppings
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- ¼ cup shredded parmesan cheese
- Fresh basil leaves (optional)
- Red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Heat your oven to 425°F (220°C) to ensure it’s hot enough for a crispy crust and melted cheese.
- Prepare the naan bases: Place the naan breads on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone mat for easy cleanup.
- Spread the sauce: Spoon the marinara or pizza sauce onto the center of each naan and spread it evenly with the back of a spoon or spatula, leaving a small border around the edges to form a crust.
- Add seasoning: Sprinkle dried oregano and grated garlic over the sauce for extra flavor, if using.
- Top with cheese and extras: Evenly distribute the shredded mozzarella and parmesan cheeses on top. Add fresh basil leaves and red pepper flakes if you like a bit of heat and herbal notes.
- Bake the pizzas: Place the sheet pan in the preheated oven and bake for 8 to 10 minutes, until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown and the edges of the naan are slightly crisp.
- Cool and serve: Remove the naan pizzas from the oven and allow them to cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
- You can customize toppings according to your preference, such as adding vegetables, cooked meats, or different cheeses.
- If you prefer a crispier base, toast the naan briefly before adding toppings.
- Use fresh herbs like basil after baking for the best flavor and freshness.
- To make this recipe vegetarian, ensure the marinara sauce and cheeses are free of animal rennet.
