Description
A flavorful Masala Omelette infused with aromatic Indian spices like tandoori masala, ginger, cayenne pepper, and turmeric. This quick and easy breakfast dish is enhanced with fresh herbs, offering a vibrant and spicy twist to a traditional omelette, perfect for a nutritious start to your day.
Ingredients
Masala Omelette Ingredients
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon tandoori masala spice mix
- 1/4 teaspoon ginger
- 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- Pinch of turmeric
- 1 ounce whole milk
- 1/2 tablespoon butter or olive oil
- 1/8 teaspoon sea salt
- Small handful fresh herbs (cilantro and diced green onion recommended)
Instructions
- Prepare Egg Mixture: Whisk the eggs together with tandoori masala spice mix, ginger, cayenne pepper, turmeric, and whole milk. Combine thoroughly until all ingredients are well incorporated.
- Preheat Pan: Heat an omelette pan to just under medium heat and add butter or olive oil. Allow the butter to melt without browning to prevent burning and maintain flavor.
- Cook Eggs: Pour the egg mixture into the pan. Swirl the eggs around to evenly spread the mixture over the surface. Sprinkle sea salt and half of the fresh herbs over the center of the eggs. Do not disturb the omelette for 2-3 minutes to allow it to set properly.
- Fold Omelette: When the edges of the eggs start to pull away from the pan and become slightly crisp, use a plastic spatula to carefully fold or roll the omelette together.
- Remove From Heat: Take the omelette off the pan immediately. The inside may appear slightly runny but will continue to cook from residual heat, ensuring a perfect texture.
- Serve: Top the omelette with the remaining fresh herbs for an added burst of flavor and serve immediately while hot.
Notes
- Tandoori masala can be substituted with a combination of garam masala and a pinch of smoked paprika if unavailable.
- Use butter for a richer flavor or olive oil for a lighter, heart-healthy alternative.
- Be careful not to overcook; the residual heat will finish cooking the omelette.
- Fresh cilantro and green onion add brightness — feel free to substitute or add other herbs like parsley or chives.
