Description

Magic Bars are a deliciously sweet layered dessert featuring a buttery graham cracker crust topped with coconut, chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, sweetened condensed milk, and crunchy pecans. Baked to golden perfection, these bars offer a perfect combination of textures and flavors in every bite.

Ingredients

Crust

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup graham cracker crumbs

Toppings

  • 1 cup shredded sweetened coconut
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup butterscotch chips
  • 14 ounce can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 1/2 cups chopped pecans

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius) to prepare for baking the magic bars.
  2. Melt Butter and Prepare Pan: Melt the unsalted butter in the microwave, then pour the melted butter into a 9 x 13 inch baking pan, spreading it evenly to coat the bottom.
  3. Add Graham Cracker Crumbs and Coconut: Sprinkle the graham cracker crumbs evenly over the melted butter, followed by an even layer of shredded sweetened coconut on top of the crumbs.
  4. Add Chocolate and Butterscotch Chips: Sprinkle semisweet chocolate chips and butterscotch chips evenly over the coconut layer to create the next delicious layer.
  5. Pour Sweetened Condensed Milk and Add Pecans: Pour the entire 14-ounce can of sweetened condensed milk evenly over the chips, then sprinkle chopped pecans evenly on top.
  6. Bake: Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 30 minutes until the edges are golden and bubbly.
  7. Cool and Serve: Remove the bars from the oven and transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. Once cooled, cut into 24 squares and serve.

Notes

  • Ensure that the butter is fully melted before spreading to achieve an even crust.
  • Let the bars cool completely to allow them to set properly for clean cutting.
  • You can substitute pecans with walnuts or omit nuts for a nut-free version.
  • Store bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
