Description

Deliciously crispy Keto Onion Rings made with almond flour and breadcrumbs, cooked to golden perfection in an air fryer for a low-carb, crunchy snack or side dish.

Ingredients

Onion Rings

  • 2 Pieces Onions

Wet Coating

  • 1 Piece Egg

Dry Coating

  • 1/2 Cup Breadcrumbs
  • 3 Tablespoons Almond Flour
  • 1/2 Tablespoon Granulated Garlic
  • 1/4 Tablespoon Onion Powder
  • 1/4 Tablespoon Smoked Paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Black Pepper

For Air Fryer

  • 1/2 Tablespoon Olive Oil (EVO Spray)

Instructions

  1. Equip All Needed Ingredients: Gather all the ingredients required for the recipe and prepare your work area.
  2. Slice Onions: Slice the onions into thick, uniform rings for even cooking. Preheat your air fryer to ensure it’s hot and ready for use once the coating is prepared.
  3. Prepare Coatings: In one bowl, combine almond flour, breadcrumbs, granulated garlic, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. In another bowl, whisk the egg to create the wet coating.
  4. Coat Onion Rings: Dip each onion ring first into the beaten egg, ensuring full coverage, then dredge in the dry coating mixture. Press gently so the coating adheres well. Repeat for all rings.
  5. Air Fry Prep: Lightly grease the air fryer basket with extra virgin olive oil spray to prevent sticking. Arrange the coated onion rings in a single layer without overcrowding.
  6. Air Fry First Side: Air fry the onion rings at 400°F (200°C) for 8 minutes to start crisping and browning.
  7. Flip and Continue Cooking: Carefully flip each onion ring with tongs to ensure even crispness. Air fry for an additional 5 minutes at 400°F (200°C) until golden and crispy.
  8. Serve: Remove from the air fryer and serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • Ensure onion rings are sliced evenly for consistent cooking.
  • Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket to allow proper air circulation.
  • Use olive oil spray to help achieve a golden crisp without excess oil.
  • For spicier rings, add cayenne pepper to the dry mixture.
  • Serve immediately for the best texture and flavor.
