Description

This Iced Espresso Cocktail is a luxurious and refreshing drink combining the boldness of freshly brewed espresso with the smoothness of vodka, honey liqueur, cold milk, and a creamy finish. Perfect for an afternoon pick-me-up or an elegant evening treat, this cocktail features a turbinado sugar rim and is garnished with mini donuts for a delightful presentation.

Ingredients

Glass Rim and Garnish

  • Turbinado sugar (for rim garnish)
  • Honey liqueur or simple syrup (for rim)
  • Mini donuts (for garnish)

Cocktail

  • Ice (coffee ice cubes preferred)
  • 1.5 ounces vodka
  • 1.5 ounces freshly brewed espresso, cooled
  • 2.5 ounces cold milk
  • 1.5 ounces honey liqueur (such as Barenjager)
  • 1 ounce heavy cream or half and half

Instructions

  1. Prepare the sugar rim: Place some honey liqueur or simple syrup in a saucer and turbinado sugar in a separate saucer. Dip one side of the glass rim at a 45-degree angle into the honey liqueur or syrup, then dip it into the sugar, turning gently to coat. Only coat one side to leave a clean sipping area. Let the glass rest for 5 minutes to allow the sugar to set.
  2. Add ice: Fill the prepared glass with the coffee ice cubes or regular ice.
  3. Add vodka: Pour 1.5 ounces of vodka over the ice in the glass.
  4. Pour espresso: Add 1.5 ounces of freshly brewed, cooled espresso to the glass.
  5. Add honey liqueur: Pour in 1.5 ounces of honey liqueur (such as Barenjager) to the mixture.
  6. Add milk: Pour 2.5 ounces of cold milk into the glass with the other ingredients.
  7. Top with cream: Add 1 ounce of heavy cream or half and half on top of the drink.
  8. Mix and serve: Use a cocktail stirrer to gently mix all the layers together. Serve immediately with mini donuts as a garnish.

Notes

  • Use coffee ice cubes to prevent the drink from getting diluted as the ice melts.
  • For a sweeter rim, dip the glass rim in honey liqueur; for less sweetness, use simple syrup.
  • Resting the glass after adding the sugar rim helps the sugar adhere better.
  • Heavy cream gives a richer flavor, while half and half lightens the drink slightly.
  • Serve immediately to enjoy the perfect contrast of cold and creamy textures.
