Description

This Homemade McGriddles recipe recreates the beloved fast-food breakfast sandwich with fluffy maple-infused pancakes, folded eggs, savory sausage patties, and melted American cheese. Ready in just 30 minutes, it’s a perfect make-at-home breakfast that combines sweet and savory flavors effortlessly.

Ingredients

Pancake Mix

  • Enough pancake mix for 8 pancakes (according to package instructions)
  • Eggs and milk as called for by the pancake mix
  • ¼ cup maple syrup

Eggs and Sausage

  • 8 eggs
  • 4 cooked sausage patties
  • 4 slices American cheese

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pancakes: Make your pancake mix according to the box directions, whisking in ¼ cup of maple syrup to infuse the pancakes with a sweet maple flavor. Cook 8 pancakes until golden and fluffy, then set aside.
  2. Cook the Eggs: Prepare the eggs for each sandwich one at a time. Whisk 2 eggs together until fully combined. Spray a medium non-stick skillet with cooking spray and heat over low. Pour the beaten eggs into the pan, allowing them to fill the bottom. When the eggs are nearly cooked, use a spatula to loosen the edges. Fold one side of the egg toward the middle, then repeat with the other side. Fold the short ends to the middle in the same way to create a neat folded egg patty.
  3. Assemble the Sandwiches: Lay down one pancake as the base. Place a slice of American cheese on top, then add the warm folded egg patty, followed by a cooked sausage patty. Top with another pancake if desired or serve open-faced. Repeat to assemble the remaining 3 sandwiches and serve warm.

Notes

  • You can prepare the sausage patties ahead of time or use store-bought cooked sausage for convenience.
  • Adjust the amount of maple syrup in the pancake batter according to your desired sweetness level.
  • Using a non-stick skillet and low heat ensures the eggs cook gently without browning excessively.
  • For extra melty cheese, assemble the sandwich while the eggs and sausage are still warm.
  • Try adding a pinch of black pepper or herbs in the eggs for extra flavor.
