Ingredients
Donut Batter
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- ½ cup sugar
- ½ cup cream
- ¼ cup oil
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract or vanilla paste
- Pinch of salt
Vanilla Glaze
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 drops food coloring
- 3-4 tbsp water
- Sprinkles, for decoration
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 170°C (350°F) with the fan on to ensure even baking for the donuts.
- Make the Batter: In a mixing bowl, combine all batter ingredients including flour, sugar, cream, oil, baking powder, egg, vanilla, and a pinch of salt. Mix until a smooth batter forms.
- Prepare Piping Bag: Transfer the batter into a piping bag; this helps fill the molds neatly.
- Grease Donut Mold: Lightly grease the donut mold to prevent sticking and ensure easy removal after baking.
- Fill the Molds: Cut a small hole at the tip of the piping bag, then pipe the batter into each donut mold cavity filling no more than three-quarters to allow room for rising.
- Bake Donuts: Place the mold in the oven and bake for 9-10 minutes until the donuts are golden and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Cool Donuts: Remove the donuts from the oven and let them cool completely at room temperature to set their shape.
- Prepare Glaze: In a small bowl, mix powdered sugar with 3-4 tablespoons of water and add 2 drops of food coloring if desired, stirring until smooth.
- Glaze Donuts: Dip each cooled donut into the glaze to coat evenly.
- Add Sprinkles: Immediately sprinkle your choice of sprinkles over the glazed donuts before the glaze sets.
- Serve and Enjoy: Enjoy your freshly baked vanilla donuts, perfect for celebrations such as Hanukkah or as a delightful treat any time.
Notes
- Do not overfill the donut molds to prevent spilling over during baking.
- Use room temperature ingredients for better mixing and texture.
- The glazing step is optional but enhances both taste and appearance.
- Allow donuts to cool completely before glazing to prevent melting the glaze.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
