Description

A festive twist on the classic White Russian cocktail, this Holiday Eggnog White Russian combines rich eggnog with coffee liqueur and a hint of coffee bitters for a smooth, creamy, and perfectly spiced holiday drink. Ideal for holiday parties or cozy winter evenings, this recipe offers two serving options: layered and stirred or shaken for a frothy finish.

Ingredients

Liquids

  • 1 ounce coffee liqueur such as Kahlúa
  • 1-2 dashes coffee bitters or ¼ ounce brewed coffee, cooled
  • 2 ounces plain eggnog

Others

  • Ice
  • Freshly grated nutmeg or cinnamon stick for garnish

Instructions

  1. Option 1: Layered & Stirred

Fill a lowball glass with ice, then pour in the eggnog followed by the coffee liqueur and add the coffee bitters or cooled brewed coffee. Top the glass with eggnog and stir lightly to create a marbled visual effect or stir thoroughly for a uniformly blended cocktail. Garnish with freshly grated nutmeg or a cinnamon stick and serve immediately.

  2. Option 2: Shaken & Creamy

Add ice to a cocktail shaker along with coffee liqueur, coffee bitters (or brewed coffee), and eggnog. Shake vigorously for about 10 seconds or until the mixture is cold and frothy. Strain into a glass filled with ice. Garnish with freshly grated nutmeg or a cinnamon stick and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use freshly brewed coffee cooled to maintain the cocktail's chill and freshness if you prefer bitters alternative.
  • Adjust the amount of coffee bitters or brewed coffee to taste for a stronger or milder coffee flavor.
  • For a non-alcoholic version, substitute coffee liqueur with coffee syrup or a non-alcoholic coffee-flavored beverage.
  • To enhance the presentation, grate fresh nutmeg over the cocktail immediately before serving.
  • This recipe is best served cold and consumed immediately for optimal flavor and texture.
