Description
A vibrant and creamy Green Goddess Dressing that combines fresh herbs, lemon juice, and a tangy base of mayonnaise and Greek yogurt. Perfect for salads, sandwiches, or as a dip, this easy-to-make dressing is fresh, zesty, and packed with flavor.
Ingredients
Primary Ingredients
- 1 cup mayonnaise
- 3/4 cup whole milk Greek yogurt (or sour cream)
- 1 cup packed fresh basil leaves
- 1/2 cup chopped dill
- 3 Tbsp lemon juice (from 2 lemons, plus more to taste)
- 1 Tbsp dijon mustard (or anchovies*)
- 1 garlic clove (peeled and quartered)
- 3/4 tsp fine sea salt (or more to taste)
- 1/2 tsp freshly cracked black pepper
Instructions
- Blend: Add all the ingredients into a blender and blend on high speed for 30-45 seconds until the dressing is smooth and well combined. Alternatively, you can use a food processor and blend for 3-5 minutes, depending on its power, until you achieve an even and creamy texture.
- Adjust: Taste the dressing and adjust the seasoning by adding extra lemon juice or salt as needed to balance the flavors to your preference.
- Serve or Store: Use the dressing immediately or transfer it to a mason jar or airtight container. Refrigerate until ready to use. The dressing will thicken as it chills and keeps well for up to one week in the refrigerator. If separation occurs, simply give it a quick stir before serving.
Notes
- You can substitute anchovies for the Dijon mustard to add a traditional depth of flavor.
- If the dressing is too thick, thin it with a little water or additional lemon juice.
- This dressing can be used as a dip for vegetables, a sauce for grilled meats, or a salad dressing.
- Keep refrigerated in a sealed container and stir before serving if ingredients separate.
- For a lighter version, use low-fat yogurt or mayonnaise.
