Description
Refreshing and hydrating homemade watermelon water made by blending fresh ripe watermelon with filtered water, optionally sweetened and garnished for a naturally sweet and cooling beverage perfect for hot days.
Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 6 cups chopped, ripe watermelon
- 2 cups filtered water
Optional Ingredients
- A few fresh mint leaves or lime wedges
- Sweetener such as agave, honey, or sugar (up to 2 tablespoons)
- Ice for serving
Instructions
- Blend Ingredients: Combine the chopped watermelon, filtered water, and a few mint leaves (if using) in a blender. Blend at high speed until the mixture is thoroughly combined and smooth. If your blender is small, blend in batches to ensure even blending.
- Adjust Sweetness: Taste the blended mixture to assess sweetness. Add up to 2 tablespoons of your preferred sweetener like agave, honey, or sugar if desired. Blend again for a few seconds to incorporate the sweetener evenly.
- Strain (Optional): For a smoother, pulp-free drink, pour the mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a pitcher, removing excess pulp. This step is optional and depends on your texture preference.
- Chill and Serve: Place the watermelon water in the refrigerator to chill for at least one hour, or serve immediately over ice. Garnish with additional fresh mint leaves or a wedge of lime to enhance flavor and presentation.
Notes
- Use ripe, sweet watermelon for the best natural flavor and minimal need for added sweetener.
- Mint leaves add a refreshing herbal note but can be omitted if not desired.
- Straining the juice is optional but provides a smoother drink texture.
- This recipe is naturally hydrating and low in calories, making it a great summer beverage.
- Adjust sweetness according to your preference based on the ripeness of the watermelon.
