Ready in just 15 minutes, it's perfect for parties, snacks, or as a condiment to elevate any Mexican-inspired dish. The salsa is pulsed to a fine texture in a food processor or blender and then chilled to let the flavors meld beautifully.
Ingredients
Fresh Ingredients
- 1 lb Roma tomatoes (halved or quartered)
- 1/2 cup white onion (chopped)
- 1 jalapeno pepper (roughly chopped, seeded)
- 1/3 cup fresh cilantro
- 2 cloves garlic (roughly chopped)
- 1 Tbsp lime juice (from 1/2 fresh lime)
Canned and Spices
- 12 oz canned petite diced tomatoes (with their juice)
- 1/2 tsp chili powder
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 2 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
Instructions
- Prepare and Combine Ingredients: Place all the prepared fresh ingredients along with canned tomatoes, spices, and lime juice into a food processor or high-speed blender.
- Pulse to Desired Texture: Pulse in 2-second bursts until the salsa achieves a fine texture. Be careful not to over-blend to avoid turning it into a puree.
- Chill for Flavor Development: Transfer salsa to a covered container and refrigerate for a few hours before serving to allow the flavors to meld and intensify.
Notes
- To adjust heat level, modify the amount of jalapeno or leave seeds in for more spice.
- For a chunkier salsa, pulse fewer times and check texture frequently.
- This salsa can be stored refrigerated for up to 3 days for best freshness.
- Use fresh ingredients for the best flavor; canned tomatoes add convenience and a slightly tangy taste.
