Description

Crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside, these baked avocado fries make a deliciously healthy snack or appetizer. Coated with paprika-seasoned bread crumbs and baked to golden perfection, they're a flavorful twist on traditional fries that’s easy to prepare and perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Avocado Fries

  • 2 avocados
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup bread crumbs
  • 2 tablespoons paprika
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2 teaspoons fresh lime juice (optional, for preventing browning)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C) to ensure it's hot enough for crispy avocado fries.
  2. Prepare Coating: In a small mixing bowl, combine the bread crumbs, paprika, and a pinch of salt. Mix them well and set aside.
  3. Slice Avocados: Cut the avocados in half vertically and remove the pits. Slice each half vertically down to the peel and carefully scoop out the avocado slices using a large spoon.
  4. Coat Avocado Slices: Beat the egg in a small bowl. Brush each avocado slice with the beaten egg, then coat thoroughly with the bread crumb mixture. For a thicker coating, repeat the egg and bread crumb dipping process once more. Alternatively, you may dip the slices in the egg bowl, then roll them in the breadcrumb plate for even coverage.
  5. Prepare for Baking: Place the coated avocado slices on a baking dish or a baking sheet lined with a non-stick silicone mat. Drizzle the olive oil evenly over the slices. Optionally, sprinkle fresh lime juice on top to help prevent browning while baking.
  6. Bake: Bake the avocado slices in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until they turn golden brown and crispy on the outside.
  7. Serve: Remove from oven and serve your avocado fries warm with your favorite dipping sauce. Enjoy this tasty and healthy snack!

Notes

  • Using fresh lime juice helps keep the avocado from browning during baking.
  • For a thicker, crunchier coating, repeat the egg and breadcrumb dips before baking.
  • You can substitute regular bread crumbs with gluten-free crumbs to make this recipe gluten-free.
  • Serve with dipping sauces such as ranch, spicy mayo, or salsa for added flavor.
  • Make sure to bake at a high temperature to achieve crispy fries rather than soft.
