Description

This creamy grape salad is a refreshing and easy-to-make dessert or side dish combining sweet red and green grapes with a luscious dressing made from cream cheese and Greek yogurt. Topped with a crunchy pecan and brown sugar mixture, this salad offers a delightful contrast of creamy and crunchy textures, perfect for summer gatherings or potlucks.

Ingredients

Grapes

  • 2 pounds red seedless grapes, stems removed
  • 2 pounds green seedless grapes, stems removed

Dressing

  • 8 ounce block cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • 1 1/4 cups plain Greek yogurt or sour cream
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar

Topping

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup chopped pecans

Instructions

  1. Prepare Grapes: Remove the stems from the grapes, wash them thoroughly, and dry well. Place the cleaned grapes into a large mixing bowl.
  2. Make the Dressing: In a medium bowl, use a handheld electric mixer to beat together the softened cream cheese, plain Greek yogurt (or sour cream), pure vanilla extract, and granulated sugar until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
  3. Combine Grapes and Dressing: Pour the prepared creamy dressing over the grapes. Using a rubber spatula, gently fold the grapes to coat them evenly without crushing.
  4. Prepare and Add Topping: In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar and chopped pecans. Stir half of this mixture into the grape salad, reserving the other half for later use as a topping.
  5. Chill and Serve: Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and chill the grape salad in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour or overnight. This chilling time allows the flavors to meld beautifully. Before serving, sprinkle the remaining pecan and brown sugar mixture on top. Serve chilled and enjoy!

Notes

  • For best results, use fresh, firm grapes that are free from blemishes.
  • You can substitute sour cream for Greek yogurt depending on your preference for tanginess and creaminess.
  • The salad can be made a day ahead to let the flavors fully develop.
  • If you prefer a less sweet salad, reduce the sugar quantities slightly.
  • Chilling the salad ensures it is refreshing and enhances the texture contrast.
  • To add a twist, you can sprinkle a little cinnamon or nutmeg into the topping mixture.
