Description
A deliciously creamy and naturally sweet smoothie made with frozen bananas, Medjool dates, and a hint of vanilla. This smoothie is quick to prepare and perfect for a nutritious breakfast or snack, offering a smooth texture with optional cinnamon and sea salt toppings for extra flavor.
Ingredients
Smoothie Ingredients
- 2-3 Medjool dates, pitted
- 1 frozen banana (about 1 heaping cup of sliced frozen bananas)
- ½ cup milk (dairy or plant-based), plus more as needed
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
- Ice cubes, as needed
- Cinnamon, optional
- Pinch of sea salt, optional
Instructions
- Soften Dates (Optional): If your Medjool dates are firm, soak them in a bowl of warm water for 10 minutes to soften. Drain the dates before using.
- Blend Ingredients: Place the milk, soaked dates, and vanilla extract into a blender. Start blending on low speed, gradually increasing to high speed until the mixture is smooth and creamy. Add more milk if needed to reach your preferred consistency. For an extra cold smoothie, add ice cubes and blend again until combined.
- Add Toppings and Serve: Pour the smoothie into a glass. Optionally, sprinkle cinnamon and a pinch of sea salt on top to enhance the flavors. Serve immediately for the best taste and texture.
Notes
- Soaking the dates is optional but recommended if they are not soft to ensure they blend smoothly.
- You can substitute the milk with any plant-based alternative, such as almond or oat milk, to suit dietary preferences.
- Adjust the number of dates based on your preferred sweetness level.
- The frozen banana provides natural creaminess and chill; if unavailable, use fresh banana with added ice cubes.
- Adding cinnamon and sea salt is optional but adds nice flavor contrast.
