Description

These Churro Cheesecake Bars combine the creamy richness of cheesecake with the crispy, cinnamon-sugar goodness of churros, all baked into easy-to-cut bars. Perfect for dessert or a sweet snack, they feature a buttery crescent roll crust layered with a smooth cream cheese filling, topped with a classic cinnamon-sugar blend and a drizzle of chocolate sauce.

Ingredients

Dessert Base

  • 16 ounces refrigerated crescent rolls (2 packets, 8 ounces each)

Cheesecake Filling

  • 16 ounces cream cheese, softened (2 blocks)
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg

Topping

  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 2 tablespoons chocolate syrup (e.g., Hershey's), for drizzling

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven: Set your oven to 350˚F (175˚C) to get it ready for baking the bars evenly.
  2. Prepare the cheesecake filling: In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, white sugar, vanilla extract, and egg. Use a mixer or whisk by hand until the mixture is smooth and creamy without lumps.
  3. Assemble the base and filling: Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish thoroughly. Press the first roll of crescent dough evenly across the bottom of the dish, making sure to seal all the seams to form a solid crust. Spread the prepared cream cheese mixture evenly over this base layer.
  4. Add the top crust: Place the second roll of crescent dough over the cream cheese layer, pressing gently to cover the filling completely.
  5. Prepare the topping: In a small bowl, mix together the ground cinnamon and white sugar. Brush the melted butter evenly over the top layer of crescent dough, then generously sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture on top so it coats well.
  6. Bake the bars: Place the prepared baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the bars are set and the crust is golden brown.
  7. Finish and serve: Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly. Drizzle with chocolate syrup over the top before slicing into bars and serving.

Notes

  • Make sure the cream cheese is fully softened to avoid lumps in the filling.
  • Press and seal the crescent rolls seams well to prevent the filling from leaking during baking.
  • The chocolate drizzle is optional but adds a nice finishing touch and flavor complement.
  • You can store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • For a stronger churro flavor, increase cinnamon slightly or add a pinch of nutmeg to the topping mix.
