Description

These Cheeseburger Sliders are a perfect party appetizer or family meal, featuring juicy ground beef, melted American cheese, and a tangy homemade burger sauce all nestled within soft, buttery dinner rolls. Baked to golden perfection with a sesame seed topping, these sliders are easy to make and irresistibly delicious.

Ingredients

Slider Ingredients

  • 1 Tbsp. softened butter
  • 1 Tbsp. olive oil
  • 1/2 white onion, finely diced
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 Tbsp. yellow mustard
  • 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp. kosher salt
  • Pepper, to taste
  • 1 pack dinner rolls, 12 count (King's Hawaiian Savory Butter Rolls recommended)
  • 16 slices American cheese (Boar's Head recommended)
  • 3 Tbsp. butter, melted
  • Pinch of salt and garlic powder
  • 2 tsp. white sesame seeds

Burger Sauce Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 Tbsp. sweet pickle relish
  • 2 tsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. distilled white vinegar
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F to prepare for baking the sliders.
  2. Prepare Baking Sheet: Butter the bottom of a baking sheet with softened butter to prevent sticking and add flavor. Set aside.
  3. Sauté Onions and Cook Beef: Heat olive oil in a medium sauté pan over medium-high heat. Add the diced onions and cook for about 3 minutes until softened. Add ground beef, breaking it up, and cook for 6-7 minutes until no longer pink. Drain excess fat.
  4. Season Meat: Add minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, yellow mustard, kosher salt, and pepper to the beef mixture. Stir and cook for another minute to combine flavors.
  5. Prepare Rolls: Slice the dinner rolls in half horizontally. Place the bottom halves onto the prepared baking sheet in an even layer.
  6. Make Butter Mixture: In a small bowl, whisk the melted butter together with a pinch of salt and garlic powder to brush over the buns later.
  7. Assemble Sliders: Place 8 slices of American cheese on the bottom buns. Spread the cooked beef mixture over the cheese, then top with the remaining 8 slices of cheese. Gently pat the beef down with a wooden spoon to pack it slightly, helping the cheese hold everything together.
  8. Add Top Buns: Place the top halves of the rolls over the assembled sliders. Brush each top with the butter mixture and sprinkle with white sesame seeds evenly.
  9. Bake Sliders: Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes until the cheese is melted and sliders are heated through. Watch closely to prevent buns from browning too quickly; loosely cover with foil if needed.
  10. Make Burger Sauce: While baking, whisk together mayonnaise, ketchup, sweet pickle relish, sugar, distilled white vinegar, salt, and pepper in a small bowl until well combined.
  11. Serve: After baking, optionally brush the tops with additional melted butter for extra flavor. Cut the sliders and serve warm with the homemade burger sauce. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Using King's Hawaiian rolls adds a sweet, buttery flavor but any dinner rolls can be used.
  • Drain excess fat from the beef to avoid greasy sliders.
  • Keep an eye on sliders while baking; cover with foil if tops brown too fast.
  • For a spicier kick, add some diced jalapeños or hot sauce to the beef mixture or sauce.
  • Sliders are best served immediately but can be stored covered in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
