Ingredients
Meat Filling
- 1 lb ground beef
- ¼ cup yellow or white onion, chopped
- ½ cup cheddar cheese, grated
- 1 can cheddar soup (approximately 10.75 oz)
- 1 large egg
- ½ tsp salt
- ⅛ tsp black pepper
- ¼ tsp garlic powder
- ½ cup breadcrumbs
Bread Cups
- 12 slices bread
- Butter or margarine, for spreading
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Set your oven temperature to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking the cheeseburger cupcakes.
- Make the meat filling: In a large bowl, thoroughly combine the ground beef, chopped onion, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, grated cheddar cheese, cheddar soup, egg, and breadcrumbs. Mix until evenly incorporated.
- Prepare the bread cups: Trim the crusts off of each slice of bread. Butter one side of every slice, then place them buttered side down into the cups of a muffin tin, shaping each slice to fit snugly into the muffin cup, creating a bread cup.
- Fill muffin cups: Spoon the prepared meat mixture into each bread cup, filling them to the top to ensure a hearty portion in every cupcake.
- Bake: Place the filled muffin tin in the preheated oven and bake for 30 to 40 minutes until the meat is completely cooked through and the internal temperature reaches at least 170°F (77°C).
Notes
- To check doneness, use a meat thermometer to ensure the internal temperature is 170°F (77°C) or more.
- Choose sturdy bread like white sandwich bread or Texas toast for best structure.
- For extra flavor, you can add a little Worcestershire sauce or mustard to the meat mixture.
- Serve with ketchup, mustard, or pickles for an authentic cheeseburger experience.
