Description

A warm and comforting Chai Latte with a rich chocolate twist, combining fragrant chai tea with cocoa powder and frothy milk for a delightful beverage perfect for cozy moments.

Ingredients

Tea Base

  • 1 ½ cups hot water
  • 2 teaspoons chai tea, loose leaf (or 2 tea bags) (I use chai made from black tea)
  • 1 teaspoon cocoa or cacao powder, plus more for garnish
  • 1 teaspoon honey, or more to taste (Or substitute sweetener of choice)

Milk

  • 1/2 cup milk or milk substitute

Instructions

  1. Boil Water: Bring water to a boil, then pour it into a teapot or divide it evenly into 2 large mugs.
  2. Steep Tea and Cocoa: Add the chai tea and cocoa powder to the hot water and allow the mixture to steep for 5-7 minutes. Sweeten to taste with honey or your preferred sweetener.
  3. Heat and Froth Milk: While the tea steeps, heat the milk either on the stovetop or in a microwave until warm. Froth the milk using a milk frothing attachment, electric frother, or handheld frother. If you don’t have a frother, simply warm the milk without frothing.
  4. Strain Tea: If you used a teapot, pour the brewed tea into mugs or teacups. If the tea steeped directly in the mugs, remove the tea bags or infusers.
  5. Assemble and Serve: Top each cup of tea with the frothed milk and dust with a little extra cocoa powder for garnish. Serve immediately and enjoy your chocolate chai latte.

Notes

  • You can substitute honey with maple syrup, agave, or sugar substitute according to preference or dietary needs.
  • Use any milk or milk alternative like almond, oat, or soy milk based on your dietary restrictions or taste.
  • For a stronger chocolate flavor, increase the cocoa powder slightly or add a splash of chocolate syrup.
  • If you prefer a less frothy drink, simply warm the milk without frothing.
  • Steeping time can be adjusted based on how strong you like your chai flavor.
