Description

Delightful and fresh Caprese Skewers combining cherry tomatoes, mozzarella pearls, and basil leaves drizzled with balsamic glaze and extra virgin olive oil. Perfect as a light appetizer or party snack, these skewers are easy to assemble and bring classic Italian flavors to your table in just 10 minutes.

Ingredients

Caprese Skewers

  • 20 cherry tomatoes (or grape tomatoes, rinsed and patted dry)
  • 20 fresh basil leaves (rinsed and patted dry)
  • 20 mozzarella pearls (or diced fresh mozzarella, patted dry)

Seasoning and Dressing

  • 1 Tbsp balsamic glaze (for drizzling)
  • 1 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil (for drizzling)
  • Freshly ground black pepper (for sprinkling)
  • Sea salt or kosher salt (for sprinkling, preferably a coarse salt)

Instructions

  1. Assemble Skewers: Skewer your tomatoes, mozzarella pearls, and basil leaves onto small skewers, layering so each skewer has 2 tomatoes, 2 cheese balls, and 2 basil leaves. Fold larger basil leaves as needed for easy skewering.
  2. Arrange for Serving or Storage: Lay the assembled skewers in a single layer on a platter. If preparing ahead, cover and refrigerate for up to 8 hours. Add dressing just before serving to maintain freshness.
  3. Dress and Season: Drizzle the skewers evenly with balsamic glaze and extra virgin olive oil. Finish by sprinkling with coarse salt and freshly cracked black pepper to taste, then serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use fresh and firm cherry tomatoes for the best texture and flavor.
  • Basil leaves can be folded or torn if too large to fit neatly on the skewers.
  • Prepare skewers a few hours in advance and refrigerate uncovered or loosely covered; add dressing just before serving to avoid sogginess.
  • Balsamic glaze can be substituted with a balsamic reduction if unavailable.
  • For a low-sodium version, reduce or omit the added salt.
