Ingredients
Fruits and Spices
- 2 cinnamon sticks, plus more for serving
- 2 medium apples, thinly sliced (preferably Honeycrisp)
- 1 medium pear, thinly sliced
- 1 medium orange, thinly sliced
- 2/3 cup pomegranate seeds
Liquids
- 1 (750 ml) bottle white wine (Pinot Grigio recommended)
- 2 cups apple cider
- 1/2 cup brandy
- 1/4 cup orange juice
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- club soda, for serving
Instructions
- Combine Ingredients: Place the cinnamon sticks and all sliced fruits (apples, pear, orange) along with pomegranate seeds into a large pitcher. This will create the flavorful base for the sangria.
- Add Liquids: Pour the bottle of white wine, apple cider, brandy, orange juice, and lemon juice into the pitcher with the fruit and cinnamon sticks. Stir gently to mix all ingredients thoroughly.
- Chill and Infuse: Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least 3 hours, ideally 6-8 hours, or up to 24 hours. This allows the flavors from the fruits and spices to deeply infuse into the sangria, creating a balanced and aromatic beverage.
- Serve: When ready to serve, pour the sangria along with the soaked fruit into glasses. Add a splash of club soda to each glass for a bit of fizz and lighten the drink.
- Garnish: Finish each glass with a cinnamon stick garnish if desired, enhancing the aromatic experience and presentation.
Notes
- For best flavor, allow the sangria to sit for 6-8 hours in the refrigerator before serving.
- You can prepare the sangria up to 24 hours in advance for convenience.
- Use Honeycrisp apples for optimal sweetness and tartness, but any crisp apple variety works well.
- Adjust the amount of brandy based on your preference for alcohol strength.
- Adding club soda right before serving keeps the drink fizzy and fresh.
