Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 10 g (0.3 oz) dark chocolate, chopped (about 3 small chunks, gluten-free if required)
- 240 ml (1 cup) almond milk
- 1 ½ tbsp raw cacao powder (gluten-free if required)
- 3 tbsp rolled oats (gluten-free if required)
- ½ a ripe medium-sized banana
- 8 almonds
- 1 tsp chia seeds
- 1 tsp maca powder (optional)
- 15 g (0.5 oz) fresh coconut chunks
- 6 tbsp lukewarm water
- 1 tsp freshly ground almonds (approx. 10 almonds ground)
Instructions
- Heat Milk and Chocolate: Add the chopped dark chocolate to a jug, pour in ¾ of the almond milk, then add the raw cacao powder. Microwave this mixture until it is hot but not boiling, allowing the chocolate to melt completely. Alternatively, this can be done in a pan over low heat.
- Prepare Smoothie Base: Place the rolled oats, half banana, whole almonds, chia seeds, maca powder (if using), fresh coconut chunks, remaining almond milk, and lukewarm water into a compact food processor bowl.
- Blend Ingredients: Blend the mixture on high speed for about one minute, ensuring that the oats and chia seeds are fully incorporated and the mixture is smooth.
- Combine Warm Chocolate Mixture: Pour the heated almond milk and chocolate blend into the food processor bowl and stir gently to combine all the ingredients evenly.
- Serve and Garnish: Pour the warm smoothie into a cup and sprinkle freshly ground almonds on top before serving to add texture and a nutty aroma.
Notes
- Ensure the chocolate and oats are labeled gluten-free if you require a gluten-free smoothie.
- Maca powder is optional but adds an extra nutritional boost and earthy flavor.
- Be careful not to overheat the chocolate mixture to avoid burning the milk or chocolate.
- Using a compact food processor helps achieve a smoother texture by thoroughly blending oats, nuts, and seeds.
- Freshly ground almonds as a topping provide a pleasant crunch and enhance the almond flavor.
