Description

A delicious and nutritious Almond Butter Apple Cinnamon Toast featuring a crunchy almond-date topping, fresh apple slices, and a hint of cinnamon, toasted to perfection for a warm, flavorful breakfast or snack.

Ingredients

Almond-Date Mixture

  • 1 cup whole dry roasted almonds
  • 12 pitted dates
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Toast and Toppings

  • Almond butter, about 1 to 1 ½ tablespoons per slice
  • Apple slices, enough to cover the toast
  • Agave nectar, about 2 to 3 teaspoons, for drizzling
  • Bread slices, quantity as desired

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven or toaster oven to 375°F (190°C) to get it ready for toasting the assembled toast.
  2. Prepare Almond-Date Mixture: Place the dry roasted almonds into a food processor and pulse until the almonds break into medium-sized pieces. Add the pitted dates and ground cinnamon, then process again until the mixture starts to come together into a coarse, sticky topping.
  3. Assemble Toast: Spread 1 to 1½ tablespoons of almond butter evenly onto each bread slice. Sprinkle a generous amount of the almond and date mixture over the almond butter layer.
  4. Add Apple and Cinnamon: Arrange fresh apple slices on top of the almond-date mixture. Lightly sprinkle with additional ground cinnamon for extra flavor.
  5. Toast: Place the assembled slices on a baking sheet and toast in the preheated oven for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the apples soften slightly and the toast is golden and crisp.
  6. Finish and Serve: Remove the toast from the oven, sprinkle with more almond and date mixture, and drizzle with 2 to 3 teaspoons of agave nectar. Serve immediately for best taste and texture.
  7. Store Leftover Mixture: Store any leftover almond and date mixture in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Use it as a topping for hot breakfast cereal, yogurt, or fresh fruit.

Notes

  • Leftover almond and date mixture can be refrigerated for up to 1 week and used as a nutritious topping for cereal, yogurt, or fruit.
  • Adjust the amount of agave nectar to your desired level of sweetness.
  • For a gluten-free option, substitute the bread with gluten-free bread.
  • Use organic ingredients when possible for the best flavor and quality.
